Teamwork Trust provides a long established work-based therapy service to people experiencing mental distress

Therapy Services: Frequently asked questions

Will I Get Any Help With My Problems?
We have a small team of Support Staff at each centre who are there to provide
help, guidance and one to one support. There will be a chance to chat about your
feelings, and we will support you in achieving your own aims. Most people also find
that the mutual support of working in a group of friendly, understanding people
who have themselves ‘been there’ extremely helpful.
In addition to this we have trained counsellors on site who can offer more in-depth
counselling if needed.
When necessary, we can point you in the direction of other support services who
will be able to help you with specific issues.

Can I Choose When I Come Along?
Teamwork is open Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 4 pm. Within those hours, each
person can choose to work with us when they want: from full time to as little as an
hour a week.

Will There Be Any Financial Implications?
Teamwork Therapeutic services are funded either by individual payments or by  N.C.C. joint commissioning budget for those who are covered. We have a limited budget, as we are covering most of the running costs of the organisation ourselves, through the work that we do, however we do try to make sure that a person’s expenses are paid. This will not normally affect your benefits.

Will My Own Particular Needs Be Met?
Teamwork services are tailored to meet a variety of needs. Each individual will be involved in selecting and defining  the services they need. We recognise that one service does not suit all. Progress will be discussed with the user and assessed periodically.

All of the Teamwork centres are fully accessible to people who use wheelchairs,
and are equipped with minicoms. We can also help to gain access to signers
(British Sign Language) and to specialist support for people from different ethnic
backgrounds.

How Can I Get Involved?
Teamwork is managed and run with considerable involvement of the people who use it, which means that the contribution of each and every person, in whatever capacity they feel comfortable, is greatly needed and valued.

Most people join Teamwork as members, and take a full part in the democratic
running of the organisation, with all of the benefits that brings. Others prefer
to come along as volunteers.

Many people are introduced to us by their GP, key worker, social worker, or other
person involved in helping them with their health needs. Others simply hear about
us and decide that they would like to spend time with us.

Each person is encouraged to become involved in whatever way suits them best.
