Only four charities UK-wide have been shortlisted for the ‘Disability Impact Award’ in the national Charity Today Awards 2019 – and Teamwork Trust is among them.

The Northamptonshire charity – alongside disabled artist, Jason Wilsher-Mills – was recognised for its involvement in ‘Corby Totems’, the ground-breaking digital arts project based on two eye-catching sculptures and the use of digital art, music, lights, voiceovers and animated movies.

The year-long art exhibition gave over 250 disabled and vulnerable adults and 1,000 school children in Northamptonshire a voice, and was supported by Made in Corby, Arts Council England and The Mighty Creative as the biggest funded project in the UK for an individual artist.

Victoria Bell, Head of Development, Teamwork Trust said:

We always knew it would be wonderful experience working with Jason, who surpassed all our expectations by giving our members access to incredible opportunities. We are absolutely thrilled to hear that we have now been shortlisted for such a prestigious award, which celebrates and rewards true excellence within the sector. For us to be recognised alongside Jason in this way for such an important project is an amazing achievement.

UK Charity Week founder Lee Rayment, who heads the judges for the Charity Today Awards, said: “We want to congratulate all of our finalists, and in particular those who unfortunately did not make the next stage of the process. It was incredibly difficult to narrow so many quality nominations down, but we took our time to carry out our due diligence on every single application and we’re satisfied that we have the strongest finals possible.”

Winners will be announced at a celebratory event on Saturday 7th September at the Key Theatre, Peterborough.
