14th August 2019: Top prizes scooped at Teamwork Trust’s charity Golf Day where over £1,600 was raised.

The event at Kettering Golf Club on Friday 9th August included 20 businesses county-wide and a ‘shot gun’ start before the 18-hole course.

Local carpenter, Nigel Moore, was one of the businesses to take part. He said, “I have benefited from the counselling that Teamwork offer in the past, which is why I am very happy to support all the good work that they do. Taking part in this event is a way I can give back.”

The winning teams received bespoke trophies which were donated by The Big Trophy Shop at the celebratory dinner. Top prizes went to…

Winning Team: Dave Patrick, Steve Wade, Keith Shann and John Norrey
Overall Winner: John Norrey
Nearest to Pin: Dean Vaughn, A S Vaughan Building Contractors
Longest Drive: Richard Keal

Linda Arneill organised the event as a volunteer for Teamwork Trust. She said...

The Golf Day last year was such a huge success we made it an annual event. We wanted to make it bigger and better each time and this year we have gone and smashed our fundraising target.

“I turned to Teamwork Trust a few years ago when I became unwell with mental health issues. Their counselling support is continuing to get me through a difficult period so I know first-hand how much of a difference the money we raised will make. Thank you to all the businesses who supported us either with sponsorship or a team.”

The event ended with a dinner, prize-giving and raffle with donations from businesses including Rodney Hogg Wine Merchant, Kettering Park Hotel, Lighthouse Theatre, Royal George, Cottingham, Savoy Cinema.

Steve Rees from Activate Business Development is the marketing consultant behind the Northamptonshire-based trophy specialists who donated the trophies. He said: “The Big Trophy Shop is delighted to support Teamwork’s Golf Day again with its bespoke trophies for the winning teams. As the trophies are made in parts, it’s also a great opportunity for Teamwork service-users to help assemble the awards and to feel involved in the event.”
