Businesses seeking to outsource packing and assembly work are being urged to think local and support Northamptonshire charity Teamwork Trust.

Teamwork Trust, which has centres in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, is a charity committed to ensuring everyone gets access to the same chances, choices and opportunities - whatever their individual needs or abilities.

The charity’s members – adults with mental health needs, learning and physical disabilities –choose from a programme of enabling and education projects, activities and counselling programmes. At the heart of the enabling programme is a factory floor at each of the three centres, where members get vocational experience – assembling, packing, sticking, stuffing and labelling.

Graham Marshall, Operations Director at Teamwork Trust, said: “All of the income funds our programmes, which empower and nurture members and help people of all abilities make new friends, access education and employment experience and regain self-esteem and confidence.”

One of the many local companies already working with Teamwork Trust is Wellingborough-based Elba Ltd.

Robert Hancock, Operations Manager, said: “Elba Ltd and our parent company, the French owned international manufacturer Groupe Hamelin, have set very deliberate objectives regarding social and community development. Working with Teamwork offers the unique opportunity of local sourcing at competitive rates as well as meeting the requirements of those objectives”.

Michael, 58: “I live on my own so I know I’d be lonely and lost without Teamwork. I love it here.”

Averil, 27: “The staff are lovely, I’ve made loads of friends and I can’t imagine my life without Teamwork Trust.”
