Local charity celebrates its transformation

24th July 2017: The only Northamptonshire charity to receive the Cabinet Office’s Local Sustainability Fund (LSF) celebrated its 12-month transformation during a special event.
Teamwork Trust, whose centres are in Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough and whose members are adults with learning difficulties, physical and sensory disabilities, received a £97,750 LSF grant delivered via the Big Lottery in June 2016.

A number of key local businesses, partner organisations, councillors and the mayors of Corby, Wellingborough and Kettering were among the dignitaries at the celebratory event held at Kettering Park Hotel on Friday 21st July.

John Bruce, Strategic Director at Teamwork Trust said: “We were delighted to be able to bring so many of our supporters together to tell them how we have used our financial backing to support over 500 individuals and reshape ourselves into an organisation that is fully prepared for the future. Showcasing our efforts and focus over the last year through building partnerships between the private and voluntary sector, developing our commercial offer and successful enabling programme, and improving the quality and impact of our counselling and wellbeing services were among the highlights of the event.”

Bill Parker, Northamptonshire County Council cabinet member for adult social care was one of the guests. He said: “It is good that central government has recognised the importance of funding organisations at this level. It gives charities like Teamwork Trust the ability to grow and they have certainly done an excellent job transforming themselves. The highlights and achievements we heard during their event prove that. I am looking forward to seeing Teamwork Trust continue to develop in the future.”

Pratima Dattani, chief executive of Support Northamptonshire said: “We work very closely with Teamwork Trust so we have experienced their dedication and commitment. The charity really is a role model for other charities and organisations, and their focus on sustainability is fantastic. Other organisations should follow their approach.”

Kathryn Fantom, Chair of My Community programme at Corby-based company RS Components said: “As a national distributor we are committed to supporting charities in the community, and we really do think the work that Teamwork Trust does is outstanding. It has been such an inspiring event, listening to the presentations makes you realise just how much has been achieved over the last year.”

As well as being the only Northamptonshire charity to qualify for the LSF award, Teamwork Trust was also chosen as a case study by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) for its good practice. Teamwork’s Mr Bruce added: “We have been recognised by the Cabinet Office, Big Lottery, NCVO and other local and national organisations for the positive impact we are having on the lives of local adults with mental health needs and learning and physical disabilities, and this makes us even more committed to the development of the charity going forward.”
