A global manufacturer has been helping to create skill-based opportunities and better job prospects for adults with learning disabilities in Northamptonshire for over 10 years.

Kettering-based company, Rothenberger has been outsourcing various elements of its production to Teamwork Trust. What started as an initiative to ‘give back’ to the local community, has since resulted in huge time-savings for Rothenberger, who massively appreciate the work of Teamwork’s service-users to label up their sophisticated plumbing products and pipe tools, ready for worldwide distribution.

Nick Hayton, Business and Fund Development Officer at Teamwork says the two-way relationship brings masses of mutual benefit.

“Any profits from our business outsourcing services are ploughed back into the charity so we can meet our objectives and support more service-users to learn, progress and move on,” said Nick.

“Apart from a short break due to Covid, Teamwork Trust’s members have been working with Rothenberger for over a decade to package and more recently label their products. We now label thousands of products a month and we do it all from our fully functioning factory floors in our centres. It means our service-users get to learn new skills and feel proud playing an active role, but it also means we make a real difference to a local business. The arrangement is just perfect, and we are delighted that such a reputable organisation like Rothenberger is so pleased with the work we carry out for them.”

Susan Thompson, Supply Chain Manager & HR at Rothenberger added: “Seeing how much happiness the members get from doing our jobs is the whole reason we started outsourcing to Teamwork in the first place. We continually work with the staff team to make sure our tasks are appropriate but also challenging so that individuals can develop and practice new skills.

“It is an extra bonus that we have been able to make efficiencies in our own operations. Having service-users help us with our labelling frees up our in-house team to carry out the more complicated packaging and placement of products. They have grown to become a highly-valued extension of our Rothenberger community.”

Thanks to Teamwork Trust’s reliable outsourcing services, which have been running for over 36 years, hundreds of adults with additional needs and learning disabilities in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough have gained life and work skills.
