Anne Burnett DL

Anne, who became Patron of Teamwork Trust in October 2017, grew up in an army family, going to 13 schools as they travelled around the world. Home was Leicestershire and she returned to one school three times. Her parents retired to a farm where she grew up surrounded by animals. Anne studied politics at Durham University and then spent 12 years working in London, initially in stockbroking and then fund management. When living in London she became a Special Constable and enjoyed many evenings walking the beat.

Anne met her husband David in their first week at work and they have been married for 29 years. They have two grown-up children and live on a farm near Oundle where Anne, having sworn never to keep animals, runs the livestock side of the business and manages the farm. David still works in the City and has recently set up the award-winning micro-brewery Nene Valley Brewery and Oundle’s restaurant Tap & Kitchen.

Anne became a Trustee of the Northamptonshire Community Foundation eight years ago and is now its Vice Chair. She was the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire from 2014 to 2015 and chose to promote the charity during her year in office. While High Sheriff, her main theme was youth support and this wide-ranging subject led her to meet organisations and community groups who are working to give a positive future for young people in the county. She liaised closely with the police, judiciary, the Youth Offending Service as well as voluntary groups which are working to provide a high quality service to reduce offending and reoffending by young people and to improve their outcomes and also for their families. During her year in office she visited Teamwork Trust and was visited at the farm by Kettering and Corby members. Via the Northamptonshire Community Foundation Anne also supported Teamworking with a grant to support its counselling service.

Following on from her time in office, Anne has become Trustee of a number of local charitable groups including the Oundle Music Trust, St John Ambulance, Deep Roots Tall Trees Choir, EQUATA and in 2016 became a Deputy Lieutenant of the county. However, it is promoting and running the Kings Heath Boxing Club in Northampton which is occupying much of her time, an involvement she never would have foreseen a few years ago.
