More than two dozen of our sports loving service users were treated to a day out this month to watch Spain vs Finland in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.

Nearly 17,000 fans took to their seats at Stadium MK, watching as the 2022 favourites Spain dominated and won the game 4-1.

A big thank you to Mencap for providing us with these tickets – and good luck to England for tonight’s semi-final against Sweden.

Hear from our service users:

Ian: “It was a really good trip, the stadium was massive and there was a big crowd. I had some nice food and loved being part of the Mexican wave.”

Robson: “It was awesome, I loved seeing Spain win.”

Jamie: “There was a great atmosphere.”

Stephen: “I enjoyed it, I liked seeing the goals and the hot dogs of course.”

Ashley (pictured below): It was really good seeing the game. I liked seeing the five goals. Going to the stadium was great. I liked the ground and we had seats near the front so we could see the pitch really well.”

Ashley loves playing football as much as watching it. Along with a small group of other service users, he has weekly football training and a kick around at club run by Northampton Town Football Club.

Oliver Healey, Transition Lead and Employability at Teamwork’s Kettering site, said: “We got into the ground just before the kick off. One of our service users even got a signature from the Finland goal keeper.”
