PRESS RELEASE

Wet fundraiser soaks staff at Northamptonshire’s Teamwork Trust

February 2024: It was sponges at the ready when service users from Northamptonshire charity Teamwork Trust voted to soak staff as part of their latest fundraising drive.

For more than 40 years this charity, which has centres in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough, has been supporting autistic adults, people with learning disabilities and individuals with mental health needs.

Fundraising is key to sustainability so when asked to think of a fun fundraising event service users didn’t hesitate to choose their wettest challenge yet!

Helen Burdett-Wright, Chief Executive at Teamwork Trust, said: “I got very wet, although our service users were kind enough to opt for warm water! Not only did we raise money, this was also a wonderful way for us all to say goodbye to Kizzy Minter, our Wellingborough centre lead. Kizzy, who joined us as an apprentice, has been a fantastic and committed member of the Teamwork Trust for more than x years and we wish her luck and success in everything she does in the future. We know she will continue to shine in all she does.”

Kizzy said: “It was magical to see our service users planning their own fundraising activity and then making it happen. It was such fun I didn’t even mind getting very, very wet. A huge thank you to everyone at Teamwork Trust.  I have loved my time with you and will everyone so much.”

Our service users love it too:

Mark: “It was great, I laughed.”

Fiona: “Happy to raise money and I soaked the staff.”

Charlie: “It was a really good atmosphere, everyone was laughing.”

Ankur: “A beautiful event. We had fun and the sponge throwing raised £61 for Teamwork Trust.”
