All three Teamwork Trust centres in Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough are now open and Covid safe – all thanks to the huge efforts of staff, parents, carers and service-users.

Since early July, we have been slowly welcoming autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs back in phases, with Teamwork’s Corby centre being the last to successfully reopen on 27th.

Our blended and remote ‘Living & Learning’ service will continue via online education sessions, phone calls etc for those choosing to stay at home, shielding or anyone who is unable to attend the centre, but we have been thrilled with how well our careful planning and measures have worked overall.

“Our service-users have really adapted brilliantly to all the changes and new rules, and we believe that is because of the gentle and nurturing approach we have taken as a charity,” said Victoria Bell, Teamwork’s Head of Development.

“Everyone feels very safe and reassured that we have their health and wellbeing at heart, and even our most anxious service-users have told us how much they love being back which is wonderful to hear and see.”

An overview of some our Covid measures include:

• Slowly restarting elements of our hands-on Living & Learning service – e.g. activities, education classes and work experience tasks on the factory floor
• Restricting numbers to a minimum at any one time – these differ from centre to centre and can be increased/decreased where necessary
• Staggered start/end times with Teamwork staff assisting service-users as they enter and leave the building
• New entrance, one-way systems, designated areas and no sharing equipment
• Temperature checks and encouragement of good hygiene and handwashing
• Restrictions in the kitchen, canteen and toilets
