Dreams come true as service users plan their first ever holiday

March 2023: A group of service users from Teamwork Trust are packing for their very first holiday – thanks to a generous donation from the Landmark Trust.

For many service users leaving Northamptonshire and going on holiday has rarely - and in some cases never - been an option. That is now changing, with this Northamptonshire charity proudly planning a four-day trip to Cavendish Hall in Suffolk later this month.

Victoria Bell, Head of Programmes, Health and Social Care at Teamwork Trust, explained: “For many of our service users a holiday has never been an option, so we feel very privileged to have been gifted this holiday by the Landmark Trust to one of their stunning manor houses.  We have a growing number of service users who live independent lives with limited support, which often means they rarely, if ever, have the chance to go on holiday.

“Thanks to this donation we get to take six of our service users on holiday – and for many this will be their first time outside Northamptonshire in the last 10 years, other than the odd day trip we organise as a charity. This will be a holiday they will never forget and we will be packing it with memorable experiences.”

Donald, one of the charity’s six happy holiday goers, is excited to be planning his first holiday in over 10 years: “It’s been such a long time since I’ve had a holiday so this is so exciting. We’ll be staying in a landmark house, visiting the seaside, eating out and exploring. We can’t wait.”

To make the holiday extra special Teamwork Trust is now requesting donations to fund some added extras, including ice creams on the beach, packed lunches, trips to a nearby castle, a cream tea, a trip to the local brewery and a pizza and movie night. Donations being requested include:

  • £25 per service user – for a brewery tour
  • £10 per service user – for fish and chips
  • £12.80 per service user – for a visit to Framlingham Castle
  • £5 per service user – for a pint and packet of crisps at a local pub
  • £3.50 per service user – for an ice cream on the beach front
  • £20 per service user – for an afternoon cream tea
